Crash Bandicoot 3

Back in 1998, Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped, left off right where Crash 2 left off in 1997.  Crash 2 was one of the best games ever made but I feel Crash 3 blew it out of the water.  The only major difference was relics and special abilities.  The relics were achieved by beating a level in a certain time period and the special abilities were handed out once you beat a boss.

  • Zone - 1 - Tiny Tiger - Body Slam
  • Zone - 2 - Dingerdile - Double Jump
  • Zone - 3 - N. Trophy - Spin Attack
  • Zone - 4 - Dr. N Gin - Bazooka
  • Zone - 5 - Dr. Cortex - Dash Ability
The dashing ability made it easier to receive relics than ever before.  While the bazooka also helped in getting boxes that were hard to reach or kill enemies easier.  Something new also introduced in Crash 3 was the types of levels.  In the first zone you find out immediately, there are swimming levels, riding a tiger through the level, and on a jet ski.  Throughout the game you start riding motorcycles and airplanes shooting down blimps and other airplanes.

Crash 3 is very similar to Crash 2 but is much more varied and presents just a bit tougher challenge.  The bosses on Crash 3 I feel are easier than the ones on Crash 2.  They are both alike in the fact that you need to collect the gems and crystals.  Also there are several secret levels that can be reached.  Two I can think of off the top of my head are, hitting the UFO sign and jumping on the bird, both take you to a secret zone.  The play through on this is fun because it's an addicting game.  I have beaten both games in their entirety over 3 times.
Like Crash 2, Crash 3 is tough to attain a physical copy but it is also on the Playstation Network for cheap.  For 5.99 you can purchase Crash 3 Warped on gamestop.com.

Quick Facts:
  • 1 Player Only
  • Difficulty:  Easy - Medium - Hard

My opinion is a must own game for anyone who has a Playstation 1.  If Playstation re-made this on PS3 with trophy support I would pre-order it the day it came out.  It is one of my favorite games of all time.

Crash Bandicoot 2

Arguably the greatest video game series ever created.  The Crash Bandicoot series was the face of Playstation starting in the 1996 until Crash 3, the last PS1 game made in the series in 1998.  Crash: The Wrath of Cortez was the first Playstation 2 game released in 2001.

Crash Bandicoot 2 is an fast and fun adventure game.  The main purpose of the game is to start and finish levels by collecting pink crystals throughout the level.  The crystals are not hidden and not hard to get.  But in the way is: holes, enemies, and in some levels being chased by boulders and bears.  There is also clear gems and colored gems throughout the game.  Mostly all the clear gems are achieved by smashing all the boxes in a level.  There are 25 levels but there is a total of 37 clear gems.  The remaining gems are up to you to find hidden in secret levels.  The 5 colored gems can also be found in secret levels.  The first level contains the blue gem.  You can achieve this gem by going through the level but not breaking a single box.  Towards the end a line of boxes block your path but jump on the box on the left with a different pattern.  The box will not break because it is made to break after 10 jumps.
The game is divided into 5 different zones, each zone has 5 levels which brings the total to 25 levels.  However there is a boss at the end of each zone.  1. Ripper Roo, 2. Komodo Brothers, 3. Tiny Tiger, 4. Dr. N Gin, and 5. Dr. Cortex.

Crash 2 can be hard to get a physical copy but Amazon.com sells it for 5-40.00 dollars.  Also Crash 2 can be downloaded on the playstation network for 5.99.
